Week 12

During this week, I’ve been developing and debuging my site for a whole week.

There’re two pwerful things need to be mentioned at this moment – one is the jquery library and the other is my brain.

I’ve learnt so many interesting techniques like the javascript, ajax,css, and I couldn’t wait to embed them into my dream site

my site is almost close to the end except minor functions left to implement: search and archive.

These are what I’ve done so far: index, posts list, gallery, guestbook, about, login, sign up

I used jquery for toggle the hide and show of login div and post writing div,ajax for checking the validation of both login and sign up data,javascript for the gallery, guestbook’s smile on click showing at the textarea bla bla…

Now I need to fix some bugs…see ya

This week a guest lecture is given by Chris Mills from the Opera software.

From his lecture I’ve learned a lot including the web standard, new standards and their features, the importance of accessiblity, the mobile web, etc.

some really attract me like the HTML5 which we can define our own tags like articles, footer ,sidebar…also CSS3 is fasinating which brings the notation os opacity and different layout fitting to the screen size.

he also introduced a debugging tool called dragonfly.

Week 10

This week I’m working on the system plan and continue programming the dream blog.

Also readjust the plan to fit the dream sharing goal.

Besides, I would probably change some graphical elements at the end in a good way.

My group mate commented on my plan and said that the personas are not quite good. Besides, I also need to provide more details of the content and purpose of the site.

So next will be busy implementing my dream blog. keep on working!

In this week, I have finished the index of the website. and begin with the post and comment part. later on I will be focusing on the database.
This week’s tutorial was also about sql which helps me a lot on my project.

In this week’s lecture, I have learned reviewed some basic knowledge about PHP.

The syntax, GET and POST methods and debuged a guestbook application.

In fact, POST isn’t that secure, because there’s a firefox plugin called URL params which can capture and modify the post and get’s values

Later, I will comment on three other students’ micro and macro analysis.

And then, continuing finish my php blog.

I have prepared the micro and marco analysis of my project this week. To do this I have tried to get some Idea about what is Micro and Macro analysis. The slide given by Alastair helped me a lot regarding the questions I have to solve for doing micro and macro analysis. I also searched over the internet for information. After some thinking and searching I finished my draft Micro and Macro Analysis.

Today, I have learned more details about the xhtml and css techniques.

During the tutorial, I tried different attributes in the css file to control the layout and the looks of a simple static blog.

During this week’s tutorial, I have looked into the php’s date method signature and trying to understand each parameter’s meaning

As the example given from http://php.net/date ,‘Monday 15th of August 2005 03:12:46 PM‘ this date type can be retrieved by the method : date(‘l jS \of F Y h:i:s A’)

PHP use echo to give output

one tip: ‘\’ can be used as an “escape” symbol it’s effect can take like this:

// prints something like: Wednesday the 15th
echo date(“l \\t\h\e jS”);

\t – is ‘tab’ symbol so it has to give another ‘\’ to output a ‘t’
